Boys' room!

We did a redo on the boys' room this past week.  They had bunk beds, but we needed to change it up for them.  We decided to do two twin beds and get them a dresser.  It turned out to be so much more work than expected.

I shopped for two days for a dresser from various thrift stores and finally found one at Salvation Army!

Let me say that this sad thing was in pretty bad shape, but the boys were actually excited about it, and it was only $40! I figured I could do anything for that amount even if I really messed it up.
I had my heart set on hand painting an old dresser for them.  I have seen so many ideas that I love, and really wanted to personalize it for them.  Let me also say that I would go about this in a totally different way if I had it to do again!  I am happy with the way it turned out, but it took all week, and I was just about ready to set it on fire before I finished it. I let the boys pick out the colors they wanted, and I figured out a design using masking tap, my sander and a lot of paint!

And, the original idea I had for the boys' beds just did not pan out, so we ended up spending more than we had planned, but I think it turned out better than what I had hoped for!  Let me just say that I love IKEA.  The beds turned out awesome, and I am really impressed with what the boys picked out for bedding!

I could not be happier with the outcome!  I guess what matters is that the boys love it.  Maybe Luke will love it enough to stay in his bed!!

Trip To Texas!

Yes, that is a Freebird burrito (and a lovely blister)!

Papa offered to watch the kids while they swam.  I am really happy they took swim lessons...

My dad, Lyndon, my brother and my nephew all helped get the waterfall going!

Big Bubba!

Papa's two-tiered waterfall!

Texas always has the most beautiful sunsets.  This is view is from my dad's boat!

We also took in Longhorn Caverns!

Luke decided to take a nap DURING dinner. I guess the excitement was just too much for him!

My parent's neighbor brought over his pet snake for the boys to see.  Guess what the boys want now?

Fried ice cream had after a really healthy Tex Mex dish of chicken enchiladas smothered in sour cream with a side of rice and refried beans.  If this can be found in NC, I want to know about it!

Our "Welcome Home" from the neighbors!
