Sleep where your head may fall!

I went in to check on the boys the other night and realized that Luke was not in bed.  I headed downstairs sure that he was with Lyndon.  Lyndon was sound asleep in his chair, so I started roaming the house looking for him. I checked the boys top bunk, the extra bedroom, our room and the living room couch...nowhere.  Then, of course, panic set in (well, we knew he was in the house, otherwise our alarm would have gone off).  I woke up Lyndon and we started to search frantically only to discover that he had crawled behind Lyndon's chair and went to sleep!  So, what is the best thing to do in this situation?  Take a picture!

Itchivitus

Our current house has a fabulous closet under the stairs.  I am sure its intended purpose was a broom closet or such.  However, I really needed the space to house craft supplies.  The boys love to go in there and shut the door and play, so I have pretty much handed it over to them.  Lyndon put a light in it, and I set up chairs and old phones, an old key board and such so they could have their office space.  They have had a blast going in and out, and they have used it for everything from a detective agency to a pizza delivery place.  Just yesterday, Logan called me into the "office" for a medical update he had been doing research on.  He discovered that the red marks on his legs were something called "itchivitus."  This, in case you are not sure, is a very serious condition that causes, yes, you guessed it, red marks and itching. There is not a known cure, but he assured me that he would be ok soon.  Here are a few pictures of they boys at the office!
No, neither wears glasses, I just found a fun use for my old frames!

And, if the medical profession, detective agency or pizza place do not work out, we still have a chance with the chef gig!

From Logan's Perspective!

I let Logan have the camera for a bit the other day just to get his view on things!  Here are the results.  I thought he did a great job, but I would have been proud if he had taken pictures of his thumb!

Daddy's Birthday!

This past Saturday was Lyndon's birthday!  We were way more excited than he was.  He has never liked celebrating, and I have learned to keep it toned down for him.  When we first got married, I thought he was just saying that and really expected a huge party with lots of presents!  I was wrong. So now days, we keep it very simple, and make simple gifts.  We did go out to eat...he let Logan and Luke decide. So, McDonald's it was followed by homemade strawberry cupcakes (really the only request for his birthday)!

Usually, Lyndon's only idea for gifts is a gift card to Barnes & Noble.  However, I knew he was going to get that from someone else, so the boys and I came up with another idea! They started out helping me just fine, and this was the end product!

They had been very patient with the project, so I gave them some paint and PAPER and intended to let them do some art while I cleaned the kitchen...

...this is the finished product! My neighbors behind us either laughed or called their realtor when I took the hose and washed them off in the backyard! The cupcakes and gift were a big hit, so it was totally worth it! Love to my very kind-hearted, sweet, caring and gracious man!  We love you more than you will ever know!

Houseguests!

The last couple of weeks have been very busy for us in the way of houseguests!  Of course, we had Sister.  We also had one of Lyndon's very close friends, Nick, from Indiana and his sweet daughter Sophia!  I am sad to tell you that for some reason, we did not get any pictures of their visit this time, but I found this cute pic of Sophia from a couple of years ago!

She was wonderful with the boys as they trailed her and drove her crazy!  Nick and Lyndon have been friends for over 30 years and have managed to not only stay in contact all of this time, but they see each other several times a year! We loved that they drove to hang out and visit on their way to the beach!

Our next house guest was quite a bit smaller and furrier, but equally as patient and fun for the boys and Maddi! This is Frederick!  He stayed with us for a few days while his family went on vacation.  He was very entertaining and wore out Maddi. I never thought that I would see a puppy get so tired that it would voluntarily go to its crate to rest/hide, but Frederick did several times to get away from Bubba! Of course, it did not take Luke long to realize that he, too, could fit in the crate.  I am sure that this pup was ready to go home!

Homemade Bread!!!

My sweet grandmother donated this lovely bread machine to me!  I was very excited to try it out, and much to my surprise, Bubba inhaled almost half of the first loaf of wheat bread!  It is sooo easy to use! I may just have to make our bread from here on out...Just in case you have a bread machine or have a lot of time to knead your own dough, I will share the recipe!

Whole Wheat  Bread:
Water at 80-90 degree F
1 large egg
2 tsp molasses (I did not have this so I added 2 MORE tsp of honey)
2 tsp honey
2 1/3 cup of whole wheat flour
1 tbs of dry milk
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tbs of butter
1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast

Add all liquid ingredients to bowl (if using machine, wait for the butter).
Add all dry ingredients except the yeast to the liquid ingredients. Do not mix yet (if using the machine, divide butter into four pieces and place one piece in each corner of the pan).
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add yeast. Place the pan in your machine or mix well and start kneading by hand! If you are doing this by hand, you will have to let it rise in a mixing bowl and then bake at 350 degrees for about 45 to 50 minutes.
