This guy is tough to see, but it is a sweet little screech owl. He was very nervous this day...I can't imagine why!
I got to go along with Logan on one of his field trips to the Nature Center! It was a lot of fun to see him with his class, and the Nature Center did not disappoint. There were lots of creepy things to look at, some of which have been in our backyard:-)
We also had a small lice scare at the school. I just treated everyone in the house (those who have hair anyway)!
Logan was selected for the Young Author Award by his teacher! This was a very proud moment as this has been such a rough year with school. A new school, a new city, a new group of friends and an ADHD diagnoses has made it one crazy 3rd-grade year, but I am very proud of how well he has handled everything. Kids are under way too much pressure these days!!
And this has been a great year for sports! Both boys competed in cross country and did great! Luke's goal the entire season was to get a trophy. He came in 5th place on his last run and got his trophy! Logan came in the top 15 in his age category and got his ribbon! I loved that they both joined the team and did so well!
This is a terrible pic of Luke, but he is coming around the corner at the annual Boosterthon Fun Run to raise money for the school. I am just going to say that I absolutely despise Boosterthon. I think it is a terrible way to raise money for a school, but until I can find another option to propose to the school for fundraising, this is it. I won't bore you with the reasons why, but you just need to know that it is a load of crap!
Logan doing his Fun Run!
And here is this gem! Logan had President's Day fun. He got to dress up as the president he would like to be one day!
We have also started our spring flag football season:-) Both boys won their first games. Logan made two touchdowns and was awesome at defense, AND Luke rocked it on his very first game ever! He played rusher most of the game and sacked the quarterback multiple times! We were very excited for him:-)
Luke in action!
I threw this one in just cause it is a cute pic. This is Logan getting his blood drawn:-( With his ADHD diagnoses, we are trying to find a way around medication. Hoping to get some answers about food issues with this. He has been very cooperative with this slow and frustrating process. I will write a lot more about this later, but just wanted to share the pic!
There have also been a lot of good times with friends at birthdays, sleepovers and such! This is Luke at an ice skating party! He did really well until about the last 10 minutes when he wiped out and bonked his head:-(
Random friend pic!
First swim of the season!!
We also got to take the boys on a super cool Disney cruise for spring break and even got to bring along friends! If you have not had the chance to take one of these cruises, I highly recommend it! Such a fun time for kids and parents:-)
We also have a fantastic little zoo just a few miles from our house! We have taken full advantage of it by becoming members and doing a lot of the great activities they offer! This one was Night at the Zoo. We got to take a night tour and look at all of the nocturnal animals! The boys loved it and got to see some pretty amazing animals in action!
They are kind of hard to see because I didn't want to use my flash, but this is the sloth!
This is tiny, one-eyed screech owl! He lost an eye in an accident which is how he landed in the zoo, but he is being well cared for here!
The ones above are the porcupines, sisters!
This is one of the large cats! He was very playful and cried when we walked away. He really wanted the attention!
And this guy is their baby alligator. We got to see the adults too, but they were really hard to see. Surprisingly, there were a lot of animals, but they just didn't come out in the pics because it was so dark. I am not going to lie, it was a little creepy out there at night, but there are some pretty amazing animals!
We also toured the Compassion Project which is a fantastic program designed to inform and raise money for kids living in poverty in other countries. The boys got to see three stories about kids (now adults) who were sponsored by someone in the states. Those sponsors provided money to help these kids stay in school and not fall prey to the issues that surround them in their country. The boys were amazed that kids live in such small spaces and have so little. I am hoping that they are getting old enough to truly understand that we are blessed with what we have and that we can't take anything for granted! If this comes to your city, I strongly recommend it!
On that note, we move on to Easter!
We had a very quiet and peaceful Easter with church, a small lunch at home and a little Easter egg hunting! I guess you are never too old to hunt eggs:-)
Lyndon giving instructions and a 30 second head-start for Luke!
Let the insanity start!
Checking out their loot! Way too much candy!
And we can't forget about Mom and Dad! We have had a little fun too. Lyndon had a work function at a place here in Florida called Howie-in-the-Hills. That is the actual name of the city! It was beautiful and lots of fun to get away for the night!
This is an actual hawk nest on the hotel grounds. They have a live camera feed 24 hours so you can see the babies!
This place is beautiful and a great destination for weddings and golf if you are in the market!
We also did a little skeet shooting! Lyndon and I were on opposite teams, so I managed to get a pic of him in action...
...I also got a pic of him after his team lost. The losers got to pose with a Carrier AC unit:0
You can see me in the back with the WINNING team!
Last but not least, we are back at the zoo for the annual Brews at the Zoo fundraiser! Now this is the way to raise money! Just charge a cover, provide lots of craft beers and wines and let people loose in the zoo while asking for donations! The goal of this fundraiser was to raise enough money for the new Florida Black Bear exhibit. I am pretty sure with the amount of really drunk people there, they managed to raise plenty with some extra!
He has having a blast!
Still having fun!
Until next time!!!!
Happy Spring:-)
