New Adventures!

Well, what else do you do when you live in Florida?  You go to the theme parks...and here it is, folks, Legoland!  Just in case you are wandering, it is all outdoors with the exception of one display.  Also, in case you don't know this, it is hot here.  On this particular day, it was probably in the 200 range.  Please enjoy the pics!  A lot of sweat was involved:-)

It may have been hot, but we had a blast, and the displays were very impressive!!
Happy September:-)

And School Begins!

Another year begins for the boys, this time in a different state and school! I can't begin to tell you how different it is here.  Not only is the building very different from their last school, but the curriculum is so intense.  If you thought Core Curriculum was crazy, give Florida Standards a look.  I would have never guessed that 3rd grade could expect so much, and we are already struggling to keep up with the demands at just 4 weeks.  Needless to say, it has been an adjustment not just for the boys but for us as well.  The homework schedule, the studying and the curriculum are making us all reevaluate how we are doing things around here.  Logan now has at least an hour of homework every night which is a lot for an 8-year-old, but there isn't another option.  So, they get out at 2:15 each day, but they have at least until 3:30 before they can relax and play. It has been tough to watch them struggle with the changes, but they are doing better with it than me! So, week 5 begins tomorrow, and I am already trying to strategize for the days ahead, keeping them calm and focused.  Things have certainly changed since we were in school!
Logan starting 3rd grade and Luke starting 1st grade! It was already 90 degrees at 7:30 in the morning!
