Apples!!

This past weekend, we took the boys and some friends on a small road trip to the beautiful mountains to pick apples!! Everyone had a blast, and the weather kind of cooperated.  I am now the proud owner of about 35 pounds of apples...they are currently sitting in my garage haunting me!

They had a bamboo forest that was perfect shelter from the rain that moved in. I am pretty sure that none of it survived the boys.

The orchard is Sky Top Apple Orchard in Flat Rock, NC.  Lyndon and I are considering going into the apple business after seeing the amount of people visiting on this one day.  And, can I just tell you that they had WARM apple donuts for sale.  Those sucked...:-)

We celebrated Luke's birthday this year at Sports Connection!  They bowled, played the arcades and had pizza and cake. It is just what he wanted! This mama was happy:-)

New Sewing Project!

One of my latest sewing projects was a must after I chose to paint my walls...it seems to be that way.  Once the home improvements start, there is no end! When we did the commercial over the summer, I had no choice but to paint the hallway they needed to use.  Of course that hallway is attached to the front door and around to the living room all of which were now a very unsavory color compared to the new paint.  So, I had to paint that room too which was quite the undertaking.  In the process, I felt like I really needed to make new cushion covers for the entry way.  I found the original covers at IKEA.  I used the original as the pattern for mine, but I really didn't want to add zippers.  I just did a basic pillow cover with an overlap in the back. 

The fabric is actually a cotton shower curtain from Target that I found on sale! It was the perfect size for the three cushions!!

More Goodies From Summer!

Yes, I am still trying to play catch up from the summer which puts me really behind on fall goodies:-( And, there is a ton of stuff for fall already!  So, here is the next installment of summer stuff!

Check out the film crew at the house!  Lyndon was approached at work about using a client's house for a 60 second spot on the DYI channel. The commercial was to feature Trane equipment and discuss ways you can make your home more energy efficient.  Naturally, Lyndon volunteered our home, so I cleaned like mad, painted a few walls and let them take over!  It was an all day event, so the boys and I watched for a bit before heading out, but Lyndon got some pretty good shots for me!  And, no, we were not in the commercial...just the house.  But, it was a pretty cool experience to see the house on TV!  I have uploaded the video on YouTube, but I CANNOT get it linked to the blog for some reason.  I am sure it is user error, but in the meantime, go to youtube.com and type in "L's Commercial."  It should pull it up for you to view!
